Meet Svetlana Portolano Borges

Svetlana's story is one of resilience, faith, and the transformative power of love.

Born in Ukraine, Svetlana spent part of her childhood in an orphanage, where she witnessed firsthand the effects of poverty, uncertainty, and the feelings of hopelessness that often surrounded children without families. Despite the challenges she faced, she never lost hope that a brighter future was possible.

That future arrived through what she considers a divine act of mercy and grace. Svetlana and her four sisters were adopted by a loving American family who opened their hearts and home to them. This life-changing opportunity gave her the foundation to pursue dreams that once seemed impossible.

While life in America was not without its challenges, Svetlana embraced every opportunity to grow, learn, and succeed. Through perseverance, hard work, and faith, she built a life rooted in purpose and service. Today, she is a devoted daughter, loving sister, dedicated wife, proud mother, and successful business owner.

​

Yet no matter how far her journey has taken her, Svetlana has never forgotten where she came from. The memories of her childhood, the struggles she witnessed, and the compassion shown to her family remain at the heart of who she is.

Driven by gratitude and a deep desire to give back, Svetlana founded United Heart Foundation. The organization's mission is simple yet powerful: to ensure that families facing difficult circumstances have access to essential resources, support, and hope during their time of need.

United Heart Foundation was born from a belief that every family deserves dignity, every child deserves care, and every act of kindness has the power to change a life. Through food assistance, diapers, baby formula, and community support, Svetlana is committed to extending the same compassion that once changed her own life.

Her journey is proof that hope can overcome hardship, and that a single act of love can create a ripple effect that impacts generations.
